Autumn term just flew by!

I embarked on my journey for my MBA programme at the Essex Business School on the 3rd of October 2011. My first term has just finished with a bang!! I had the time of my life at EBS in the first term. From the impressive professors, who guide you so well in your projects and reports, to the enthusiastic and friendly batchmates, the experience has been so enriching. The energy here is simply so high and contagious. It is academic and fun all at once!!!

As part of our MBA programme we had the opportunity to visit the HSBC Head Quarters in London. We met some of the top officials from HSBC and spent the entire day with them. It was a wonderful learning experience to get an insight into the banking industry and the corporate governance framework regulating the industry. This will definitely go a long way in helping us once we obtain our MBA degrees and are ready to take charge of our corporate roles.

The fact that the University of Essex is a research oriented institute means it has the best of faculty available. The hair-splitting mentality helps you learn the art of detail here. While on the other hand you have this bunch of livewires who look forward to every weekend to party like crazy.

EBS is equal to diversity. I have made friends pretty much from all over the world here:  wonderful people with even more wonderful backgrounds; each one getting you the best from his or her country. I have had the best Turkish coffee & delight, the best Iranian Tah chin (saffron rice), the best Mexican Enchiladas, the best Russian Vodka/Champagne/Wine and the best Jordanian Hummus….Need I say more?

Apart from the MBA suite, which is my 2nd home in the UK (the 1st being my apartment where I live), my most favourite hang out place is the “Sub Zero”. Since, this pub is on campus I have an excuse to visit it more often than the other pubs. This is one place for which I want to remain a student for my entire lifeJ .

What an exhilarating experience it has been!! I don’t believe that the first term is over already. Looking forward to a fun filled Spring Term now. How I wish I could pause a few of my happiest moments at EBS. Nevertheless, I have some wonderful memories to cherish all my life of my MBA programme at EBSJ

About me

Name: Vineeta Suri
Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Commerce (University of Rajasthan, India) and a Management Degree from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies, Mumbai, India.
Currently doing MBA from Essex Business School (EBS), University of Essex, UK.
I have over a decade of work experience in the retail banking industry. Before joining EBS for my 1 year MBA programme, I was working in the capacity of Assistant Vice President with HDFC Bank Ltd. India. I was the Zonal Head for Personal Loans and Business Loans for North India and was part of the middle management for the bank for a couple of years. However, post my MBA with EBS I would be keen to be part of the senior management team in the banking sector.
This MBA will help me fine tune the necessary skill sets in terms of strategy, planning and developing business ideas. The course is extremely well structured and it will be of  huge added value to me and give me an edge over my peer group in any organization. The MBA will help me climb the corporate ladder with confidence and ease. I will now be able to achieve my career goals.
Why Essex Business School?
I wanted to do my MBA in the UK, somewhere outside London but not too far. Amongst the universities I looked intoEssex Business School at the University of Essex met all my needs and expectations.
The university has been ranked amongst the top 10 in the country for research.  When I visited the website I realized that Essex Business School provided the foundation for future managers.  Essex Business School follows a very intensive and comprehensive course structure that meets the International standards for MBA. Since the course runs over 1 year,  for people like me who take break from their well established careers, it is a rational decision to choose EBS.
Now, that I am part of EBS I am very happy with my decision. I realize that with my experience and this MBA degree under my belt I can attain success at the highest levels. EBS provides just the right training base and I am acquiring just the right skill sets as required by modern employers. From basic communication, presentations, writing skills to intense research methods, leadership and management skills...I am learning all here. The best part is that learning at EBS is so much fun.

The MBA batch 2011-2012 is an exciting group of students from different countries across the globe. They are an inquisitive and intelligent lot which also gives you an opportunity to work with some of the best brains. We all study and party together, both with complete passion.

The autumn term has just finished and has been a tremendous learning experience.
